Reading 07 - Doing

This week for the reading task we were asked to review two of our peers paragraphs from last week and in return we would receive reviews ourselves. The feedback I received from my two peers firstly was extremely helpful as I knew elements of my work needed improvements. The feedback was mainly focused on the structure of my paragraphs as the structure I had wasn't very good so through my feedback I told to split it into 5 sections being Introduction, some related information, Some meat, A form of reference and  a conclusion. I was happy with this feedback cause I knew it was where I struggled last week and having it spelt out for me gave me direction and motivation. 

So I began by taking my 4 paragraphs and dissecting them up into the 5 sections I read through them firstly to pull out a introduction then if I felt it needed to be rewritten I did that then I highlighted it yellow. I then red through the rest of the information looking for related information and reworked that and highlighted it in blue. I then pulled out the meat and made some minor changes and highlighted it in green. I then got a reference and highlighted that in pink and wrote out clear conclusions as I had realized I hadn't given definitive conclusions.  I then went about organizing the content in the correct order which is where the highlighting came into use. 

Overall I am very happy with this weeks reading task and my end result.

The game idea I have chosen to continue through out the rest of the semester is my puzzle themed game. Going off the feedback that Shaun has given me and my own research I have done I believe this is the best course of action. Firstly it was my most thought out game idea and one I am most interested in making.   What is a Game Anyway?  After completing a reading of  What is a game anyway? by Ian Schreiber, it is evident that several points where raised by the author of the paper. These points include the lack of a universal definition of what a game is, the weakness of definition and how simple making a game really is. The following blog will address these points in greater detail.  To begin with the author explains what his definition of what a game is, it being "a play activity with rules that involves conflict" direct quote What is a Game Anyway? by Ian Schreiber. Unity Toutorial 03

 I have just completed  this weeks Unity tutorials, which are Lessons 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3. I found these tasks very enjoyable and challenging as there were a few part I had to watch back a few times to figure out where I was going wrong.  This week the tutorial was based around a animals and pizza. Yes you read that correctly. It basically consisted of three animals, a farmer and pizza. The main objective of the game is to feed the animals food to stop them. You would generate the pizza by pressing down the space bar and use the S key to spawn animals randomly around game. This is an area I found a tad confusing. So we had to use animal prefabs and place them in the spawn manager. This came easy however when righting the code for the spawn manager I misspelled several key phrases and cause the game to not operate correctly. After comparing my code to the code in the tutorial I realized I had added letter and was missing some letters as well. (Thanks Dyslexia.). I was actually really happy
